Not Jan the Elder: faces on figures are atrocious. Museum has always catalogued it as Jan the Younger or even artist working in the manner of Jan the Younger.
This painting is a copy after a print by Aegidius Sadeler after a design by Roelandt Savery (plate: 162 x 223 mm; Hollstein XXI, no. 224; Illustr. Bartsch, vol. 72/01, Aegidius Sadeler, no. 232). The print shows peasants on the way. Agnes Tietze listed the painting as „Follower of Jan Brueghel the Younger“, but without to recognize the dependence on the print.
